The 2016 Nuits-Saint-Georges Village is excellent, offering up an attractive bouquet of ripe cherries, blackcurrants and raspberries that mingle with nuances of smoked meats and candied peel. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, satiny and elegant, with a concentrated core of fruit, juicy acids and velvety tannins that display an impressive degree of refinement for the appellation. It's a very impressive effort.

VM: (92-95)

Bright red with ruby tones. Very pure, youthfully medicinal aromas of black raspberry, violet and menthol. Wonderfully rich and subtly sweet, offering grand cru volume and depth to its flavors of red and darker berries, licorice, spices and minerals. This utterly suave wine boasts a rare combination of ripeness and coolness. The youthfully medicinal finish mounts slowly, with saline soil and mineral tones emerging as the wine opens in the glass. Splendid potential.

The 2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges Village offers up aromas of ripe cherries, wild berries, smoked meats and spices. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, ample and fleshy, with fine but youthfully chewy structuring tannins, ripe acids and an open-knit profile. Unlike most vintages of this cuvée, it will drink well with minimal bottle age.

VM: (88-90)

The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Damodes 1er Cru comes from shallow soils. It has a lively bouquet of vivacious crushed strawberry and cassis, all neatly integrated with the oak, around 50% new. The medium-bodied palate is linear and correct, offering crisp tannin, firm in grip and a terse, stony finish. Give this two or three years in bottle.

Mingling aromas of wild berry fruits and orange rind with nuances of smoked meats and loamy soil, Faiveley's 2018 Nuits-Saint-Georges Village derives from over three hectares of vineyards owned by the house. It's medium to full-bodied, supple and enveloping, with a rounded, charming personality that reveals none of the stereotypical Nuits asperity.
