Pure and bursting with energy and tension, this red's cherry, blackberry, floral and mineral flavors are locked tight today. Nonetheless, this offers terrific balance and intensity, with just a hint of oak spice. The long, resonant aftertaste is driven by vibrant acidity. Shows excellent potential. Best from 2029 through 2047. 200 cases imported. –BS

The 2022 Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Ursules (Domaine des Héritiers Jadot) unwinds in the glass with aromas of sweet berries, cherries, spices and vine smoke. Medium to full-bodied, layered and seamless, with sweet, powdery tannins and a long, spicy finish, this site, an enclave in Vignes Franches that's one of the house's emblematic wines, always performs well.

The 2022 Beaune Clos des Ursules 1er Cru has a focused bouquet with veins of blue fruit, distinguishing it from Jadot's other Beaune Premiers. The medium-bodied palate has pliant tannins framing the cranberry and crushed strawberry fruit and touches of marmalade and tangerine emerging towards its structured finish. Alongside the Beaune Grèves, this would be my pick from the appellation.
