This leans into its fruit, showing raspberry fruit paste and boysenberry compote flavors that are frankly ripe but offer enough inner succulence to stay honest. Singed anise and warm fruitcake notes echo through the finish, continuing the flattery without overdoing it. At the end, a burnished feel alludes to its maturity, yet there’s still energy for the cellar. A wine that plays with restrained hedonism. Drink now through 2032.  –JM

The 2021 Pinot Noir Marcassin Vineyard is glorious. Dark, ample and enveloping, the 2021 is promising but also very, very young. A blast of dark blue/purplish fruit makes a strong opening statement. The 2021 is youthful and packed to the core; it's going to need at least a few years to come into its own. This is a seriously impressive young Pinot from Marcassin.
